Institutional Repository Discontinuities in pattern inference
This paper deals with the inferrability of classes of E-pattern languages—also referred to as extended or erasing pattern languages—from positive data in Gold’s model of identification in the limit. The first main part of the paper shows that the recently presented negative result on terminal-free E-pattern languages over binary alphabets does not hold for other alphabet sizes, so that the full...
متن کاملA Discontinuity in Pattern Inference
This paper examines the learnability of a major subclass of E-pattern languages – also known as erasing or extended pattern languages – in Gold’s learning model: We show that the class of terminal-free E-pattern languages is inferrable from positive data if the corresponding terminal alphabet consists of three or more letters. Consequently, the recently presented negative result for binary alph...
متن کاملMulticultural education in Farsi textbooks (Reading) Iran Elementary Education
The purpose of this study was to examine multicultural education in the content of Farsi textbooks of elementary education in Iran. This research was conducted within a qualitative framework and the qualitative content analysis method was used with a conventional (inductive) approach. The sampling method was purposeful and the sample included Farsi textbooks of all the grades of elementary educa...
متن کاملAdvances in Learning Formal Languages
we present an overview in the advances related to the learning of formal languages i.e. development in the grammatical inference research. The problem of learning correct grammars for the unknown languages is known as grammatical inference. It is considered a main subject of inductive inference, and grammars are important representations to be investigated in machine learning from both theoreti...
متن کاملMulti-Pattern Languages
We investigate languages consisting of words following one of the given finitely many patterns. The issues concerning such multi-pattern languages are relevant in inductive inference, theory of learning and term rewriting. We obtain results about decidability, characterization, hierarchies and special classes of multi-pattern languages. Some open problems are also presented.
